Utas SNM Host Inaugural Tasmanian RACGP Emergency Retreat
The University of Tasmania School of Nursing & Midwifery Simulation & Clinical Education Centre hosted the inaugural Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) Clinical Emergency Management Program in Tasmania. Over the three days GP’s from all over Australia gathered to hone their skills in responding to an emergency in their practices and communities. These ranged from advanced resuscitation techniques to dealing with adult and paediatric patients who have sustained severe trauma.
Head Instructor Greg Gibson from RACGP commented that he had delivered courses all across Australia, and without a doubt, Utas School of Nursing & Midwifery facilities are one of the best he has had the pleasure to work in. “We usually have to bring two pallets of equipment with us where ever we go, but due to Utas being so well equipped for our needs, we left the pallets at home”.
Utas SNM Immersive simulation coordinator, Nigel Chong stated, “It was a pleasure to have the RACGP in Launceston and it was a fantastic opportunity to showcase to the rest of Australia what state of the art facilities Tasmania has to offer in the area of clinical education”.
Local participants of the course commented over the weekend, how fantastic it was to have an opportunity to attend the course at Utas in such a state of the art clinical simulation centre. |
